New College Football AP Top 25 Absolutely Shocking

As a college football fan, I can say one thing for sure — we will never see another weekend of upsets in our lifetime like we witnessed this past Saturday. Sure, there will be Saturdays when two or three of the top 10 go down but not five:

It was simply amazing to witness. One high ranked team going down, one after another. On highlight shows and sports radio, broadcasters didn’t know where to begin regarding which upset to talk about first.

  • Mississippi State earned two first place votes after blowing out Texas A&M 48-31
  • Mississippi State and Ole Miss are tied for No. 3 with exactly 1320 points
  • Ole Miss has not been ranked this high in a non-preseason top 25 poll since 1963 — the last time they won the SEC title
  • This is Mississippi State’s best ranking ever. Their previous best ranking was No. 7 in 1980
  • This is only the second time in the history of the AP Poll (since 1936) that four teams have lost in the top six in the same week
