Video: UAB Football Players Expressed Raw Emotion At Team Meeting Last Night

After University of Alabama at Birmingham President Ray Watts got done telling the gathered members of his school’s football team that there would be no next year because the numbers didn’t look right (i.e., the school didn’t want to pump any more money into a program that, while in the process of turning things around, lost an awful lot), Watts opened the floor up to any questions the players had.

There weren’t so many questions as there were emotional men who needed to get the weight of the situation off of their chest and plant it directly on Watts’ shoulders. After all, this is a guy who has been on the job less than two years and happens to be the 11th highest-paid university president in the United States making an annual salary of a little more than $853,000, according to data from the American Council of Trustees and Alumni.

So, when given the chance to speak directly to their school’s fearless leader, the players, as you’d probably have guessed, went off. And things got incredibly emotional.
