After another week of action, the new college football playoff rankings have been released and the top four positions have not changed.

Alabama (10-1), Oregon (10-1), Florida State (11-0) and Mississippi State (10-1) remain at the top of the rankings while TCU, Ohio State, Baylor, UCLA, Georgia and Michigan State round out the top 10.

The major change in this week’s poll involved Ole Miss who tumbled to No. 19 after being embarrassed in Arkansas 30-0 for their third straight SEC defeat. But the Rebels can turn all of that around and salvage at least part of their season by defeating Mississippi State this Saturday afternoon in the Egg Bowl.

While Ole Miss was free-falling, UCLA, which defeated USC, moved up to the No. 8 position while the Spartans rejoined the Top 10 after being No. 11 a week ago.

On an interesting note, Boise State (9-2) and undefeated Marshall (11-0) finally cracked the top 25 by entering as No. 23 and 24 respectively.

While the top four remains unchanged, most believe that Mississippi State will eventually drop out if Alabama continues to win out. For the Bulldogs, their best hope this weekend is that Auburn defeats Alabama on Saturday night in the Iron Bowl. And if the Bulldogs take care of their own business against Ole Miss, they will take over first place in the SEC West and earn a trip to the SEC Championship Game.

For the Seminoles, their undefeated season hinges on a victory over in-state rival Florida this Saturday in Tallahassee. While the Seminoles are the defending National Champions riding a 27-game winning streak, they are only a seven to eight point favorite against a 6-4 Gator team that has struggled on offense all season long. Look for drama in this game as it will be Gators’ head coach Will Muschamp’s last game.

Other games of note in the top 10 this week include TCU at Texas on Thanksgiving night, Michigan at Ohio State and Baylor vs. Texas Tech. TCU, Ohio State and Baylor need to continue to play well in case one of the top four teams slips in the next two weeks.

The new college football playoff rankings did not significantly change this week but there a big shakeup could be coming after this week’s games.
