Top 25 breakdown by conference:

  • SEC: 8 teams
  • ACC: 2 teams
  • Big 12: 4 teams
  • Big 10: 4 teams
  • PAC 12: 5 teams

Notes:

  • Even though South Carolina defeated Georgia on Saturday and the Gamecocks have one more victory than the Bulldogs, Georgia is still ranked one position higher. This is mainly attributed to South Carolina’s blowout loss to Texas A&M on the opening Thursday of the season.
  • The SEC has had eight teams ranked in the top 25 for the third straight week along with five teams in the top 10 for the past two weeks.
  • Florida State garnered 37 first place votes as opposed to 38 a week ago — the extra vote was lost to Oregon who now has 17.
  • No. 4 Oklahoma beat an SEC team, Tennessee, that was not in the top 25.
  • Notre Dame is back in the top 10 for the first time since 2012, the year they went to the national championship game and were crushed by Alabama.
